Dr. Zachary Nayak Joins the Practice!
After an intensive hiring effort over the past two years, Green Spring Internal Medicine is bringing on a new internal medicine physician! As many of you know, it has long been my desire to have another doctor alongside me to serve and care for patients at Green Spring Internal Medicine.
A lot of prayer and consultation went into the process, along with very hard work maintaining the practice while waiting for reinforcements to arrive. Our process involved the help of a financial planner and an executive coach, networking with colleagues and advertising on various platforms. We interviewed a number of highly qualified candidates, but one stood out by far the most: Dr. Zachary Nayak. Dr. Nayak comes to us with highest recommendation from his colleagues and friends.
Zachary Nayak, M.D. M.B.A. is a dual board-certified physician in internal medicine and pediatrics. He trained at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the Urban Health Residency, which focused upon providing primary care in an urban setting. After graduation, he provided care in West Baltimore at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) for over seven years. He obtained his MBA from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in Healthcare Administration and is passionate about quality improvement and operational management in healthcare. He has lived in Baltimore since 2011, loves hanging out with his wife and active 2 year old son, all-things sports and is an active member of his church.
In addition to having both trained in internal medicine at Hopkins, some things Dr. Nayak and I have in common include our Christian faith, being from Illinois originally, and the desire to care for those who have faced challenges. His mother was a doctor, and he described growing up around medicine. He has lived in Baltimore since 2011, loves hanging out with his wife and active 2 year old son, all-things sports and is an active member of his church. He is not only board-certified in internal medicine but also in pediatrics.
At Green Spring Internal Medicine, his practice will be limited to internal medicine at present, and he will be seeing all of the new patients who come our way. Because of his background and interests, I believe he will lend both clinical and operational strength to Green Spring Internal Medicine as he builds a long-term practice with us.
Dr. Nayak will be starting on May 11th and will be accepting most major insurance plans EXCEPT United Health Care and Medicaid plans. He is able to see patients who have Medicare as primary insurance with Medicaid or other insurance as secondary. Our practice does not handle workers' compensation claims.
I heartily hope that all of the patients at Green Spring Internal Medicine will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Nayak. My own schedule has been overflowing and bursting at the seams for the past couple of years since PA Shapiro left us, and so my desire now is for all of our patients to be willing to see Dr. Nayak when my schedule is full. I have utmost confidence that he will deliver excellent care, not only as a diagnostician but also as one who cares about people from all generations and walks of life.
With two physicians at the practice, I am hoping to once more be able to offer longer visits to our more patients dealing in greater complexity. I also hope to devote more time to my executive role at the practice. I will no longer be seeing patients on Fridays. I will continue to offer TeleVisits on Monday afternoons. The practice continues as always to offer 24x7 phone coverage for both urgent and non-urgent issues. The next few months will be a time of transition as we add to our staff to meet the needs of Dr. Nayak's growing practice. We have a nurse joining our team in June and are working to hire a full time certified medical assistant to help with patient care.
On a personal note, I am simply grateful to God for providing for our practice needs, especially providing Dr. Nayak who has expressed how excited he is to join us. After being on call every day for years, I will finally be able to share that responsibility with another doctor. I will finally be able take a true vacation. I will finally have a peer practicing alongside, a very highly qualified doctor. I cannot express to you the joy of this moment!
Please join me in extending a hearty welcome to Dr. Nayak. Please refer friends, family members, and colleagues to him. It is our desire to serve more patients in the team model of primary care that we have developed. Growing the practice allows us to be a blessing to you, to your family, and to our community.
