Welcome, Dr. Boursiquot!
Spring has sprung, the holidays of Passover and Easter recently celebrated. This season, we have an extra cause for joy. Dr. Marie-Alberte Boursiquot (pronounced (BOO-SEE-KO) has graciously agreed to join the team at Green Spring Internal Medicine! Dr. B is starting to see patients at the practice on April 20th. She and Dr. Nayak will be accepting new patients, allowing us to offer the same high-quality healthcare to more of our neighbors in Baltimore and surrounding communities. Like Drs. Nayak and I, Dr. B will be offering in-person visits, teleVisits and telephone consultations (Medicare only).
Dr. Boursiquot has 30 years of experience in the practice of internal medicine. She is board-certified and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She served for eight years as a board member for the Maryland Board of Physicians from 2016 to 2024. She is a graduate of New York University and Howard University College of Medicine and completed residency training in general internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins/Sinai Hospital program. Dr. Boursiquot joins Dr. Nayak and me as a Hopkins-trained physician and an expert in the care of adult patients.
She also has a long list of awards and volunteer activities. Most recently, Dr. Boursiquot was awarded the 2026 Mary Newman Advocacy Award of the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP). She and I have worked together for over 10 years as members of the ACP Health Policy Committee and at the state level opposing physician-assisted suicide. She has a strong moral compass and has worked tirelessly on behalf of what is good for patient care and for the healthcare system. I am grateful for her friendship and am so glad that we can now work together in patient care.
Dr. Boursiquot is a longtime resident of Howard County and practiced there for thirty years. It is our hope that by summer's end she will have a part-time location in Howard County where she will be able to see patients. In the meantime, our practice is immediately available to the care of her patients. She will be with us full-time. Her start date is also just in time for my planned vacation and a trip to Spain for my niece's wedding; thus, I am hopeful that my own patients will entrust Dr. B with their care while I am away.
In other news from the practice, we are continuing to expand our staff team ni coming months. Our care manager and operations lead, Dr. Idongesit Usoroh, just welcomed the birth of his first child. Please join us in congratulating Drs. Usoroh (his wife is also a doctor) on the birth of their baby girl! We also enjoyed a Spring break visit from Kyle last week. He is doing well, now nearing the end of his first year of medical school. We look forward to seeing Eric accepted to medical school this coming year, God-willing. Amanda is aiming to go to college this summer for an associates degree. We are grateful for Ashley's long years of service and for Kaiya's skills and outreach efforts as a medical assistant. We are updating our website soon!
Though we are straddling various different payment models in the healthcare system, excellence in patient care is always our aim. Over 80% of our patients with hypertension had controlled blood pressure by the end of 2025. We are also happy to report that approximately 90% of our Medicare patients made it in for a Medicare Wellness Visit last year. We have been able to prevent re-admissions to the hospital by seeing our patients within 1-2 weeks of hospital discharge for transition of care visits (here, the sooner the better!). We continue to offer 24x7 telephone service for both non-urgent and urgent matters. Always call 911 in a true emergency! We have same-day appointments available and offer most of the recommended adult vaccines (see 2024 ACIP Guidelines).
We hope to partner with our patients toward optimal health as we live out our vision of thriving together. Please do join us in welcoming Dr. Marie-Alberte Boursiquot to the pracitce!
